Poor workmanship in parts

Obvious low bidder type kit. Threads are poorly done and require lots of tape to seal. Most parts in the kit are not needed and the individual would be better served to buy what is really needed in an individual high quality part and not have a lot of left over parts of dubious quality.

Disappointing

Nice variety of accessories, but cheap metal, poor China construction. One of the connection pieces had a beyond obvious flaw from the factory. The first 3 threads were not alligned and a large notch went through them, making it basically unusable. The blow gun is too small, designed for a child maybe. The valves do not thread snug with the air hose, heavy tape needed to stop severe air leakage. Not what I would expect from Porter Cable.

Great starter kit

A good set of parts for assembling hoses to a compressor and performing basic functions. The pieces in the set are well constructed. Well worth the money.

For what its worth, I didn't have any problem with the shipping.

We love that it’s a solid piece, with nothing adjustable on it, so you know its 45- and 90-degree angles are always true. It takes the gymnastics out of measuring, too, whether screwed to your workbench or temporarily tacked to the working wall with 6d finish nails, because of the built-in tape measure hooks. Even tricky inside-to-inside miters are a snap. Perfect 3/16-inch reveals on windows and door jambs are guaranteed every time: Just line it up and draw your guide with the pencil holes. this is not bad at all!

although a couple of reviewers found this gadget a little useless, I found it very helpful, I do home remodel for a living & I own a lot of tools, I like to try every new product I see, this little device make doing casing very easy, It may be useless for the big time carpenter but for someone who doesn't do casing on a regular basis it works fine, at least it does work for me, I've done about 30 doors with it & it gets it right all the time...

Works great but a lot of money for plastic

Unlike many of the reviewers who bash this tool, I have actually used it and have made "perfect miters" with it. I am a professional woodworker and I do use it. It is handy for marking a reveal around door jambs and for making a perfect 45 degree reference line in the corners. The only problem I have with it is I was expecting it to be be metal and it was plastic. I have seen them in metal in stores and other reviewers referred to them as metal. The plastic works fine. It is just a lot of money for plastic.

Very handy tool for hanging trim

Not being a professional trim carpenter, this tool really helped me do a good job trimming doors and windows. I read the negative reviews calling the tool useless--and it may very well be to an old pro. If you make your living trimming out houses, you're probably beyond this. I agree with the complaint about the lack of instructions. It took me a little while to figure out how to use it. Just examine the pictures and practice with some scrap, and you'll soon be rolling right along.

Black & Decker’s VersaPak tools are great for the homeowner, and to keep them running, you’ll want some spare batteries. Some advantages to these include their freedom from "memory," which keeps you from getting a full recharge and the fact that you’ll get at least 300 full recharges on each battery. They’ll power all the 3.6-volt VersaPak tools, including the ScumBuster and screwdrivers. Of course, once you buy a VersaPak tool, you don’t have a choice of batteries, but we’ve found these to be reliable and well able to power the 3.6-volt VersaPak line. The charger has a light that lets you know you’ve inserted the batteries for a charge, and three hours later, they’re ready to go. BUM BATTERIES

THIS IS A GOOD LITTEL DRIVER. BATTERIES ARE NOT WORTH THE POWDER TO BLOW THEM UP. WHY WOULD B&D TAKE A GOOD IDEA AND SCREW IT UP WITH CHEAP OUTSOURCED BATTERIES? EVER HEAR OF NICKEL HYDRIDE? I LEFT MINE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NO ONE WOULD PICK IT UP.

Same problems with batteries and charger

B&D's claims for the batteries are just not true. I have had the same problems with very short battery life and intermittent charger described in other reviews. I have gone through several sets of gold batteries (don't even try the cheaper ones!).

And now, to make matters worse, you can't buy replacements locally anymore (they have been replaced by other tools with different batteries) and have to scour the internet trying to keep my tools working.

I will be replacing my tools very soon, I'm sure. The only reason I give 2 stars instead of one is that the tools do work pretty well when you can get a new battery in them.

bad batteries

great idea - lots of different tools all use same rechargeable batteries. BUT these batteries die in <1 year. I have a whole set of tools that use these, but now my choice is: spend $60/yr on batteries, or get a new set of tools that will last longer! Pretty easy decision at this point... considering I already have a great Craftsman drill and there are other tools that use the same batteries.
BE WARNED - if you buy these you will be buying them forever.
